It’s been one of those semesters actually. I feel like I’ve left my brain out in left field when it needs to be on the pitching mound. I’ve been so distracted with trying to buy a house, change jobs at work and teach for 2 different schools that I think I finally found the limit that my body can take. I haven’t been sick in almost 7 years and this semester I got hit bad, not once, but twice. Needless to say I haven’t kept up on my blog like I intended to. I’m going to be getting back into it now and making updates part of my weekly ritual while working on school stuff.
I’ve moved into my own place and I’ve begun the process of setting it up. I should hopefully have everything ready to open the doors to company shortly. I’ve got my work space setup that allows me to do work without the distraction of TV and the phone. This has actually made the last few weeks of this semester a lot more successful. My students are a lot more engaged and I’m feeling like I’m actually getting the material across a lot more successfully.
I am planning two separate posts these next few weeks to reflect on this semester over all. The first will be on my successes and why they worked, the 2nd will be on my failures and looking at how I can learn from those to create successes for next semester. I’ll spend about a week reflecting on each one and get them posted. I feel that this reflection at the end of each semester is vital for me to grow as an educator going forward.
