Working with Video
In Web Design ll we are working on how to prepare video for use in different contexts. in our last class Jo gave a really cool explanation of compression, frame rate, key frames, and other unfamiliar terms, but I confess, it still is confounding to a person who still is not clear on how the show gets into a tv set.
I worked with two different video clips. One is a snippet of a youth production of Into the Woods. My aspiring actor would like to start a portfolio website with sample performances.
The other video is intended to be streamed into Second Life, as part of a lesson on Japanese Beetles/White Grubs, a common yard pest.
I played around with the possible settings, prepared them for use streamed from YouTube, on Marlboro’s server to be downloaded, and even signed up for my own streaming server (7 day trial for free). Some of the outcomes are shown below for your comparison. We are hoping that the video will actually be embedded here as soon as our support team learns why the embed procedure is not working in our version of WordPress!
