eXtension Second Life Meetup and Scavenger Hunt

I ran a little professional development event in Second Life today. It was a scavenger hunt/webquest type of thing. The object was to use a list of clues to find 10 locations in Second Life and prove you were there. Trophies for the winners (well, virtual trophies). It was pretty successful, and I will likely do this once every couple of months.

Would you like to try it? here are the clues/challenges:

eXtension’s SL Navigation Practice Scavenger Hunt

This activity is intended to help you practice your skills while you tour some amazing Second Life content. You will work in pairs, matched based on experience level, one mentor and one newbie. Be sure to friend your partner so you can communicate and find each other easily. You have one hour to complete the quest. The team with the most items from the list wins. Bon Voyage!

1. Ask Sigmund Freud the question, “What are dreams?” What is his answer?

2. Get a mouse shaped balloon on Main Street of this famous park

3. Take a picture of Old Faithful erupting

4. Find some avatars speaking a foreign language in chat. Copy and paste a few lines to a notecard.

5. Stand on the prow of the Titanic like Kate Winslet. Take your picture there.

6. Get a free Museum of Robots T-shirt in the gift shop on the upper floor

7. What is at Elon 133,214,501

8. Visit http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kleio/61/92/22
The most amazing amusement ride in SL. Check the book to the right of the entrance and note how long it took to build using how many prims. Then ride it, if you have time…tick tock tick tock

9. Remember the Alamo? Visit there, take the box of freebies from the front lawn. Wear the glasses from the freebie box.

10.. Make a pastry at 7 Days Magic Bakery and bring it back

The winning team got 10 out of 10 in one hour’s time. Can you beat that?
