Spending a weekend without an internet connection is something people like me need to do more often. Even if it isn’t by choice.
I was down in the cape this weekend without a wireless signal anywhere to log on with. I just left my laptop in its bag until I had a few hours to log on and catch up while my girlfriend was in class. I found a signal and proceeded to start my catching up and churning out work, when ten minutes in I get the low battery warning. I reach into my bag to grab my cord looking to supply that rocket fuel all PCs need to work only to find that it wasn’t there. With no cord and nowhere around to buy a new one, I was totally out of luck. Best part was my conversation from the previous night was how I know I left something at home (as I always do when I travel) but I couldn’t figure out what it was. I figured it was a sign that I spend way too much of my life connected that I needed a break to disconnect and see the real world again.
Although it was nice to get away, when you do get connected again you feel overwhelmed with all that you need to catch up. Just glad emails have that nice feature “Mark all Read” to help with the task.
