My Personal Waste Containers, Ready and Blisfully Empty

5/31: My Waste Containers, Blissfully Empty

MY ZERO WASTE CHALLENGE: Or, Slaying the Waste-Zombie

Ready for some fun?

I’m challenging myself to produce no waste for 1 week. Yup – 7 full days. Doesn’t sound like much, but I can tell right now it’s going to be harder than it sounds…

Why am I doing this? One day I caught myself just throwing stuff in the garbage. Another handful of random stuff. Nothing unusual about that. And that was exactly the problem. When we tally everything up at the end of the day, I’m a pretty conscious gal compared to many. But there I was, just throwing stuff away, without a second thought to the various resources my garbage was helping to deplete, and what hole it was going to end up filling, of no use to anyone or anything. Wasted.

So, I figure if we’re all waste-zombies it’s a problem. I want to snap out of it, set the bar even higher for myself, and learn some new habits. Frankly, I don’t expect to ever reach perfection, but I want the act of casting things aside as waste to pain me enough so I avoid it as best I can.

Okay, everyone has been asking me about the rules. Here they are. Come back and see my posts on my progress. And questions, comments and suggestions are welcome!
